Dr Lucia González Buendía is an ophthalmology in the Retina and Vitreous Department at IMO Grupo Miranza Madrid, with national and international training and experience.
She completed her residency at the University Clinical Hospital of Valladolid, during which time she completed a term abroad in the Retina Department at the Mass Eye and Ear, Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA). She is currently studying the PhD programme at the Autonomous University of Madrid.
To complete her studies, she took a clinical fellowship in medical retina at the Instituto de Oftalmobiología Aplicada (IOBA) in Valladolid, and two Research fellowships at Angiogenesis Laboratory and Schepens Eye Research Institute of the Mass Eye and Ear, Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA) in the fields of neuro-protection and angiogenesis.
A specialist in medical diagnosis and treatment of retinal and macular diseases, she is an expert in AMD, diabetic retinopathy, and vascular retinal diseases.
Renowned in the field of research having received different awards, she is taking part in more than 20 international clinical trials and collaborates in the development of new therapies for the treatment of retinal disease.
