What does it involve?
This involves lifting the midface area (the cheek) through the conjunctiva and by means of a minimal skin incision to provide the lower eyelid with skin.
When is it carried out?
It is indicated for moderate and severe lower eyelid retraction cases.
A comprehensive eye and eyelid examination.
Before the surgery
Patients should not take anticoagulants or aspirin before surgery. After surgery, the eye must remain covered for approximately one week.
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia and sedation.
Paraesthesia (a feeling of tingling or numbness) can occur in the midface area, but is spontaneously resolved.
