Professional career
Dr Ramón Medel is a partner of the IMO and lecturer in the Ophthalmic and Orbital Plastic Surgery Degree of the IMO and the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
He stands out, especially, for his international recognition, which leads him to participate, annually, as a speaker or guest surgeon in many courses and congresses around the world
Dr Medel also leads the biennial meeting Barcelona Oculoplastics, along with other members of the Departments of Oculoplastic Surgery and Aesthetics and Oculofacial Rejuvenation of IMO. This event is currently a national and international reference for both specialties.
Ophthalmologist, sub-specialized in oculoplastic surgery, dedicated to correct diseases or issues of the palpebral area (such as malpositions, ptosis surgery, transconjunctival face lift or blepharoplasty) and the orbit (such as orbital tumors or orbital reconstruction in thyroid orbitopathy), among others.
Expert in cosmetic, non-invasive, aesthetic and oculofacial rejuvenation therapies aimed at improving the appearance of the face and the eyes, such as fillers or botulinum toxin treatments.

As regards his training, he completed a fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery at the Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, UK (1995-1996) and was an Observer at the Ophthalmic and Orbital Plastic Surgery Unit of the Jules Stein Clinic at UCLA, Los Angeles (USA), in 2002.
He is also an ophthalmologist at the Department of Orbit and Oculoplastic Surgery at the Ciutat Sanitaria Vall d’Hebron (UAB) and Director of the Doctorate Course in Orbit Pathology in Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery at the same centre.
