When is it carried out?

It is performed as a treatment for glaucoma.

Prior examination

Comprehensive eye examination.

Before the surgery

It is a prophylactic treatment performed in eyes with a narrow angle (occludable angle) to prevent acute glaucoma episodes (sharp rises in intraocular pressure due to pupillary block).

Surgery

Surgery consists of making a small hole in the periphery of the iris to connect the posterior and anterior areas of the iris (posterior chamber to anterior chamber) and balance the pressure between them.
