As a medical retina and uveitis specialist after having worked for several years in the Ophthalmology Department of the Hospital Clínic in Barcelona. During her residency she met Dr. Rafael Navarro, a retina specialist at IMO, with whom she has remained in contact over the years. Furthermore, over this past year, Dr. Navarro and another retina specialist from the Institute, Dr. Carlos Mateo, worked with Dr. Burés on research projects. As a result of this cooperation, the possibility arose for her to join IMO. The ophthalmologist was sure about it right from the start: "Joining IMO offered me the chance to work at a very high level, with very good resources and in cooperation with renowned specialists in Spain and abroad, which means that you learn a great deal every day."

Dr. Burés specialised in Ophthalmology at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm (Sweden), completed her residency training at the Hospital Clínic in Barcelona and, in 2007, completed her training with a period at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. She is particularly interested in uveitis, a disease that "requires a close relationship with other specialists such as rheumatologists, internists, infectologists and microbiologists, as it is a disorder that is often linked to systematic diseases. Uveitis patients require special controls and multi-disciplinary treatment."
