World Glaucoma Week
World Glaucoma Week (WGW), which will take place from 10 to 16 March 2013, is a joint initiative from the World Glaucoma Association (WGA) and the World Glaucoma Patient Association (WGPA), intended to draw attention to a chronic disease that can seriously affect vision and can cause blindness.
During this week, various information and awareness initiatives will take place throughout the world, such as those promoted by the IMO Foundation, aiming to highlight the need for early diagnosis and treatment appropriate to the disease.
The IMO Foundation has promoted an information and awareness campaign, which, under the heading of “Breaking the siege on vision“, includes various activities. Among them, on Thursday 15 March, there will be a preventative conference for patients and the general public under the heading of “The key to understanding glaucoma”.
Early diagnosis unit
During this week, from Monday 10 to Friday 16 March, the IMO’s early glaucoma diagnosis unit will provide free screening for those at risk, who remain undiagnosed. This will include: visual acuity test, ocular pressure measurement and examination of the optic nerve.
