Dr. Carolina Pallás from the IMO joins the European Glaucoma Society

Latest News

Dr. Carolina Pallás, a glaucoma specialist at the IMO, has recently joined the European Glaucoma Society, a professional association founded in 1979, whose main goals are to promote the exchange of knowledge amongst glaucoma specialists in Europe, stimulate research and maintain contact with similar glaucoma groups in other continents. In Spain, there are very few specialists who are part of this Society

According to Dr. Pallás, “one of the main advantages of being a member of the European Glaucoma Society is that you have access to information that is only reserved for members, which can be of great interest, such as gene therapy or neuroprotection studies, amongst other new developments and advances. Furthermore, it opens up new job opportunities. To be a lecturer of the ESASO (European School for Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology), for example, you have to be a member of the Society.”

To join it, new members have to be proposed by two members of the Society, one of whom is to be part of the Executive Committee, a body that ultimately decides whether the members proposed are accepted. Dr. Carolina Pallás, who was accepted last April, now aspires to join the American Glaucoma Society.
